Police in Koreni, Lamu County apprehended five people transporting 246 rolls of bhang approximated to be worth over Ksh. 250,000.
The suspects including; 3 men and two ladies were in a Toyota station wagon plying the Minjila-Mokowe route when police officers flagged it down following a tip-off from a member of the public.
A police report read issued on Thursday, June 1: “With learned precision, the officers immediately swung into action, setting up a roadblock at Koreni area where they flagged down the vehicle, a metallic grey Toyota Voxy.”
The vehicle together with the suspects were taken to Mokowe Police Station where a thorough search was conducted on the vehicle and its occupants, revealing the batch of bhang stashed in a suitcase and inside a refashioned spare tyre.
The case is handled by officers attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations Hindi, to acquire appropriate charges for the suspect.
