Five people have been injured at the Kasarani sports ground as a crowd was trying to force their way in past the security guards.
The deployed Red Cross emergency service providers rushed the injured to the hospital, where they received first aid.
At least 10,000 officers have been positioned in various locations in the stadium for security.
The officers deployed at the gate were overwhelmed as people turned out in vast numbers.
By 5am the sixty thousand stadium was close to full.
Today, Tuesday 13 September is the inauguration ceremony of William Samoei Ruto as the 5th President of Kenya.
Ruto yesterday visited the outgoing president Uhuru Kenyatta at the state house, which is part of the handover process, and together with the first lady they took the incoming and his wife for a tour around.
The police Spokes Person Bruno Shioso earlier advised the Citizens to watch the proceedings from the comfort of their home.
“To avoid logistical challenges, this is to request the public to make alternative arrangements to view the proceedings, especially from the comfort of their homes,” police spokesperson, Bruno Shioso advised in a statement released on Tuesday morning, September 13.
“We thank you for your continued cooperation,” Shioso added.
The former Prime minister and Azimio la umoja presidential candidate confirmed an invitation to the ceremony but said he won’t be in attendance as the family is outside the country attending to important matters.
