President William Ruto has stated that the recent countrywide demonstrations organized by Azimio La Umoja and One Kenya Alliance have caused significant damage to the country.
Speaking from State House, the President took stock of the events that have taken place in the last two weeks, highlighting incidents of lawlessness, widespread violence, looting, and invasion of private property.
The President attributed these incidents to individuals taking advantage of the political demonstrations organized by the opposition. He also mentioned that during this period, three people have lost their lives, including a police officer, while 400 others have been injured, including 60 officers. Additionally, a police vehicle was burnt in Kawangware.

The President expressed his concern about the negative impact of these events on the country’s economy and reputation as a modern nation.
“Our security agencies have endeavoured to do everything within the law to protect all the citizens. Nevertheless, the violence, chaos and disorder continue to distract our focus as a nation on economic transformation. “Ruto Stated
He pointed out that his administration is working hard to salvage the economy from the difficulties it faces, and such acts of violence and anarchy could derail their efforts.
“My administration has instituted solid measures and policies to attract investors and through this create an opportunity for our young people to realize their potential among many other issues we are doing as a government.” He added
Therefore, the President emphasized the need to maintain peace and order in the country and prevent any further violence that could harm the nation’s progress.
“We all have an obligation to respect the Constitution of Kenya which also includes the responsibility of institutions established and created by the Constitution.” He said
