The Judiciary has reduced the case backlog by 14% and registered a clearance rate of 87 percent in the last one-year, Chief Justice Martha Koome has said.
Speaking on Friday during the Judiciary’s National Day of Prayer and Fasting during a special prayer session to mark her one year since assuming office, CJ Koome said a total of 328,104 cases have been concluded in the same period.
The CJ noted the establishment of a Judiciary Police Unit with 3,000 police officers as among the achievements realized by the Judiciary in the past year.
She said the Judiciary is constructing four claims’ courts in Nairobi in partnership with the Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) .
