Deputy President William Ruto has asked the court to terminate the case filed by Michael Kirungia pursuing his removal from office.
While reacting to the case, the deputy president noted that, only Parliament can remove him from office through impeachment.
Moreover, DP Ruto through his lawyer Elius Mutuma submitted that the case is political and should be dismissed.
“We submit that the only organ with the power to remove a sitting Deputy President from office is parliament through impeachment as provided for under Article 150 of the Constitution,” the lawyer stated.
According to DP Ruto, the case is frivolous, aggravating and an abuse of the judicious process.

Likewise, in the case, Michael Kirungia made claims that William Ruto has abandoned his constitutional role as the principal assistant to the head of state and embarked on “self-assigned duties” hence, should be removed from office.
Furthermore, Mr. Kirungia accused the Ruto of gross misconduct, claiming he was attacking the government which he serves.
At the same time, Kirungia is reported to have earlier asked the court to restrain the deputy president from using his office and his residential home in conducting meetings of the United Democratic Alliance until the case is heard and determined.
In simple terms, Kirungia wants the DP removed from office for allegedly failing to perform the functions constitutionally conferred to him.
