Added details have emerged regarding the Subuiga accident along the Isiolo-Meru highway that left 12 people dead.
The accident involved a bus that lost control overtaking another vehicle, after which it hit a 14-seater matatu and further slammed into a lorry.
According to the latest report by the police, it was a luxury party bus, complete with a sound system, TV screens, a DJ deck and dance floor and was headed to a bush party in Samburu.
The report further disclosed that the entertainment service provider that owned the bus offers customized tour vehicles with the slogan ’party on Wheels’.
According to traffic police, Saturday’s accident occurred at around 8.00 PM on Saturday, leaving 11 dead on the spot.
The death toll later rose to 12 on Sunday morning after one passenger succumbed to injuries on Sunday morning while receiving treatment at St Theresa Kiirua hospital.
Medics said that 21 more are still admitted at St Theresa Kiirua hospital and that two had been discharged.
Three other patients had meanwhile been released to recuperate at home on their own request.
