The national police are set to close three roads in Nairobi on Monday, September 4, 2022, to ensure there are no distractions from the citizens ahead of the Supreme court ruling on the presidential petition case.
In a statement issued today, 4th September 2022, by the head of traffic operations, Vitalis Otieno, the roads will be closed two hours prior to the ruling announcement.
Mr Otieno went ahead to name the specific parts of the roads to be closed. According to the statement, Ngong’ road will be closed at the junction of Ngong’ road 1st Avenue (opposite NHIF). Motorists will not be allowed to access the Central Business Centre through Kenyatta Avenue via Cathedral Road but instead should use the Haile Selassie Avenue.

The Cathedral Road- Milimani Ngong Road which accesses Milimani Law Courts will be closed at the Kenyatta Avenue and Valley road junction. Motorists are advices to use the Valley road as only cars heading to the court will be let through.

Lastly, the Cathedral and Haile Selassie Avenue junction will be closed leaving motorists the alternative Haile Selassie-Ngong road.
“The roads will be closed after we get directive from Supreme Court which will be two hours before the time given out by Supreme Court.
The acting Inspector General Noor Gabow in his statement in addition to the road closure directive advised citizens to maintain peace and avoid gathering at the Supreme Court or in gatherings in public, instead watch the proceedings from the comfort of their homes.
