On Saturday morning, the Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua embarked on a journey to the scenic Mount Kenya, located in the central part of the country.
He had previously visited the mountain in January to pray for rain and find solace, but this time he went on a mission to give thanks for the much-needed rainfall that had come after five consecutive failed seasons and the worst drought the country had experienced in 40 years.
In a post on his Twitter account, Gachagua shared that he had taken the time to offer prayers of thanksgiving to the Almighty for his Grace and mercy in providing the much-needed rain.

Standing at the foot of the mountain, Gachagua prayed to God to bless the land with more rain, saying, “I pray to God, from the foot of Mt Kenya, to give us more rain and a bountiful harvest.” He emphasized the importance of coming together to pray, referring to the mountain as a symbol of resilience, struggle, and victory.
During his earlier visit in January, Gachagua had prayed for freedom and an end to the prolonged drought that had brought the country to its knees. He spoke of the devastating effects of the drought on the people and animals, and how it had led to hunger and death.
As he concluded his visit to Mount Kenya, Gachagua called on people to continue praying for the country and its people. He reiterated his belief that the mountain was a symbol of hope and victory, and that through collective efforts, the country could overcome any challenge.
