Incidents of election related violence being recorded in the country have reduced three months to the general election Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiangi has said.
Matiangi said that the number of incidents recorded is less compared to the same period prior to the 2017 elections
According to the CS, data from the Inspector General’s office shows that election violence cases have reduced to about a quarter of what was recorded in 2017.
The CS spoke during a roundtable meeting on Kenya’s economy and election preparedness, between the Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA) and the National Development Implementation Communication Cabinet Committee (NDICCC).
He reiterated that the country was going to have the most peaceful elections ever witnessed .
At the same time, he assured the business community that all measures have been put in place to guarantee their businesses safety during the electioneering period.
KEPSA CEO Carol Kariuki said the private sector was committed to supporting the government in ensuring a peaceful election and a smooth transfer of power.
