The two twin brothers from Embu who went missing earlier this week have been located and reunited with their families.
Leon Macharia and Ryan Mwenda who are both in form two disappeared on Tuesday, July 12 after they were sent to different schools.
The boys were found stranded in Ruiru, more than 70 kilometres away from their parent’s home on Friday, July 15.
Embu West sub-county police boss Julius Kyumbule said the 15-year-old students claimed they had been abducted by two people, who gave them a lift and took them to Kasarani in Nairobi, where they were held hostage in a house for hours.
The boys reportedly managed to sneak out unnoticed and went to Ruiru where they telephoned their parents from a stranger’s mobile phone informing them of what they had gone through.
Their parents drove to Ruiru and fetched their sons after which they took them to Itabua Police Station for questioning.
However, detectives dismissed the twin’s claims that they were kidnapped.
“The students are lying. They had fled home, but they want us to believe that they had been kidnapped. The boys are required to be investigated further because they are not sincere,” Kyumbule said.
The police boss further asked a police counsellor to talk to the boys before he released them to their parents.
