Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua during an interdenominational church service at Kapsabet showground in Nandi County on Sunday declared that he would not allow anyone plotting against President William Ruto to succeed.
Gachagua emphasized his commitment to shielding the president from sabotage and noted that anyone intending to harm the president would have to face him first.
“Whoever is planning something against president Ruto should be prepared to face me because that is my job. My work is to protect him,” he said.
He also criticized the nationwide protests led by Azimio la Umoja coalition leader Raila Odinga, stating that they are merely seeking to force a handshake with the government. He asserted that he would not let Raila have the upper hand in achieving a handshake, and he would be responsible if it happened. He further alleged that former President Uhuru Kenyatta is sponsoring the protests, especially the one planned for Nairobi on Monday.

“This man is trying to force a handshake. And I have placed traps around State House so wherever he is seen he is grasped because if we allow him into our government he will destroy it,” he said.
“Also Mr.President if you might be having plans to have a handshake with him I will not accept that.”
DP Gachagua urged President Uhuru Kenyatta not to fund Azimio and create chaos in Nairobi to come and destroy property, arguing that it would be ungrateful of him to do so. He warned that if the president planned to have a handshake with Raila, he would not accept it.
“I urge you my brother Uhuru Kenyatta, please this country was very nice to you they made you a king. You left us with nothing and the little that is remaining for poor people you are giving Raila Odinga and his people to come and destroy it. How ungrateful can you be to us to fund Azimio and create chaos in Nairobi to come and destroy property?” he posed.
