Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka says he will not rest until IEBC allows Mike Sonko to contest for the Mombasa governorship race.
Musyoka wants IEBC to clear the former Nairobi governor and allow him to run.
“As the Wiper leader, I will not sleep until Sonko and Mbogo become governor and deputy governor of Mombasa”
“Chebukati and his team have no means, it’s not their business to block Sonko,” said Musyoka.
Sonko has already filed an appeal at the East African Court of Justice.
He is seeking to overturn a decision by the Supreme Court that overruled his appeal against his impeachment as Nairobi governor.
The move by the Supreme Court led to the revocation of Sonko’s registration certificate by the IEBC.
IEBC cleared Sonko to contest through a High Court order before the Apex court halted his celebration.
At the same time, Sonko filed an application at the Supreme court seeking a review of the judgement.
Sonko claims that the Supreme Court decision was delivered too quickly
He blames the Supreme court for not giving him enough time to respond appropriately.
During the proceedings Sonko had wanted Chief Justice Martha Koome to recuse herself from the case but the court declined the application.
