Nakuru senatorial aspirant and Keroche Breweries Chief Executive Officer Tabitha Karanja has distanced herself from the ownership of the beer manufacturing company.
In a replying affidavit against a suit seeking her to bar her from running for the senate seat, Ms Karanja says she is only an employee of the beer manufacturing company and not its owner.
The suit was filed by Nakuru based politician Daniel Mahiri.
In his petition, Mahiri wants the court to find Karanja unsuitable to hold public office.
Mahiri lost to Tabitha in the United Democratic Party (UDA) primaries.
In his suit, Mahiri argues that since 2006 Keroche has been accused in numerous cases of crimes related to tax evasion.
But in a counter argument, Ms Karanja says that he has only been employed by Keroche Breweries Limited as a director and the Chief Executive Officer of the company.
Kerocho breweries has in the recent past been involved in tax disputes with the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA).
