Amos Kimunya has been granted a Ksh 700,000 cash bail to secure his freedom as he gets ready for the re-opening of the Ksh 60 million graft case.
The high court recently reversed the acquittal granted in 2020 to Kimunya and his two counterparts charged with the Ksh 60 M fraud case.
Milimani Chief Magistrate Lawrence Mugambi granted his two co-accused, former director of land adjudication Ms. Lilian Wangiri and Mr. Junghae Wainaina, Sh1 million cash bail each.
The director of public prosecutions through Alexander Muteti had said that the court had made a mistake by setting the three, Kimunya and two of his co-accused, free.
On Thursday October 6, Justice Esther Maina agreed with the DPPs case that was established against the three, stating that Kimunya, Lilian Njenga and Junghae Wainaina should not have been acquitted, instead should have been put to trial.
Mr Kimunya will be defending himself against seven criminal counts while Ms Wangiri and Mr Wainaina have eight counts.
Defence hearing is scheduled to start on October 31.
