Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei has asked President William Ruto not to let opposition leader Raila Odinga to intimidate him into a forced handshake.
Cherargei instead says Azimio members should create the office of the official opposition leader.
He says the creation of the office will quench their thirst for the ‘nusu mkate’ government .
“To my colleagues in Azimio they have a proposal to amend the constitution to create the office of official opposition leader,” Cherargei said.
“Hiyo ni mambo wanaweza ongea huko, wakifaulu kuleta bunge hiyo maneno itaamuliwa huku. Lakini sahi watupatie serikali yetu nafasi ya kuongeza nchi ,” he said.
Cherargei wants President William Ruto to remain firm and not be duped into a forced handshake by Azimio.
“Don’t be intimidated or blackmailed into a forced handshake. That arrangement does not exist,” he said.

Cherargei says that Azimio should focus on being the opposition and let the government of the day work.
“If you lost stay at home and do your work as opposition. If you won, stay in office and work for the people of Kenya and that is the essence of democracy,” he said.
Raila has however insisted that he is not interested in the joining government
