Kenya’s Joyciline Jepkosgei who won silver medal at the 2022 London Marathon has been promoted to Sergeant at the Defence Headquarters.
Jepkosgei set a new personal best during the London marathon
The chief of defence Forces (CDF) Genral Robert Kibochi promoted the silver medalist on Tuesday, congratulating her for her good representation of our country Kenya.
Kibochi further commended her hard work for setting a new personal best record of 2:17:43.
“We are very grateful for your continuous hard work and for representing Kenya and KDF well.
“We wish you the best as competing at such high levels requires a lot of hard work and determination. I’m confident that you will continue doing better since you are still young,” Kibochi said.
Jepkoskei appreciated the present KDF officials, on behalf of the entire Kenya Defence Forces for their continued support.
Present was the Commander Kenya Army Lieutenant General Peter Njiru, Assistant Chief of Defence Forces in charge of Personnel and Logistics Major General Muthuri Kiugu, Colonel Physical Readiness and Sports Defence Headquarters Colonel Benjamin Kiprop and the Defence Forces Sergeant Major WOI Elijah Koranga.
In previous Olympics, Jepkoskei in the Prague Half Marathon in 2017 set a record as the first woman to run 13.1-miles in under 65 minutes with 64:52.
In 2019, the sergeant won both the half marathon and marathon in New York City in a time of 1:10:07 and 2:22:38 respectively.
