Former Kitui Governor Julius Malombe won the repeat nominations by the Wiper party for the Kitui county gubernatorial race.
Malombe trounced his competitor Kiema Kilonzo in a repeat poll that was ordered by the High Court.
Malombe garnered 9,826 while Kilonzo could only manage 80 votes with 75 votes being rejected.
Last week, the High Court nullified the Nomination Certificate issued to Malombe by the Wiper Party and ordered fresh nominations.
This is after former High Commissioner to Uganda Kiema Kilonzo, who was also eyeing the Kitui governor seat under a Wiper ticket, approached the tribunal after Malombe was handed a direct nomination by party leader Kalonzo Musyoka.
Malombe wil now battle it out with incumbent Governor Charity Ngilu and former Senator David Musila.
