Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i on Wednesday, July 13 reiterated that the Government is ready and well prepared to secure the country during the forthcoming August general election.
According to CS Matiang’i, his Ministry has increased its engagement with other stakeholders to ensure there is a peaceful and secure election. He further reported that the preparations started a year ago.
“Even though we have witnessed some pockets of political intolerance, negative ethnicity, and some flare-ups of hate speech, I am confident that the security machinery that has been put in place will surmount these challenges,” Matiang’i said.
Furthermore, while addressing 451 Assistant County Commissioners who graduated from a paramilitary training at APTC, Embakasi, the Interior CS commended the security agencies for sustained efforts in monitoring, identifying, reporting, and responding to such threats and risks.

Moreover, he noted that the Government is leaving no stone unturned in its efforts to assist the independent Electoral and Boundaries IEBC in carrying out the most peaceful election in the history of our country.
“Even as pessimists foresee the clouds of chaos and crises gathering, we will prove that our resilience is exceptional and peacefully close the lid on the highly charged political environment so that the country moves on,” the CS stated.
In addition Fred Matiangi urged politicians to stop undermining and attacking the National Government Administration Officers to help uphold peace in the country.
