Kipchumba Murkomen while speaking during a special thanksgiving service in Uasin Gishu thanked President William Ruto for nominating him as Roads, Transport, and Public works Cabinet Secretary.
During the Sunday service which was attended by Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Murkomen stated that he is humbled to be considered for the position in the key ministry in the country.
Moreover, he thanked the head of state and his deputy for believing in him as the next CS for roads.
“I want to thank you DP and the president for believing in me and giving me this opportunity to serve Kenyans. I have been in Senate for a while but you saw it fit I serve the country in this capacity. I want to say a big thank you,” Murkomen stated.
The Elgeyo Marakwet Senator also asked the president and DP to be his mentors on executive matters as they were in the legislature, adding that he is willing to learn.
Furthermore, Murkomen said that the Kenya Kwanza government will work to open places like Kerio Valley through improved infrastructure to end banditry and cattle rustling.
Nonetheless, banditry has been so rampant in the area that legislators are now considering treating the vice as terrorism.
In addition, the leaders who spoke at the service stressed on special prayers towards ending the attacks that have seen many killed and livestock stolen.
Kipchumba Murkomen also noted that incoming Interior CS Kithure Kindiki will ensure peace returns to Kerio Valley, and that no one will die through shootings.

The senator’s remarks come following the attacks which led to the death of several people including eight police officers who were killed by bandits in Turkana two weeks ago.
