Kitale-based comedian Isaac Sichei, alias Mkenya Isaak 7Million, on Friday, October 14, led a group of youths in a 47-kilometre walk in marking this year’s Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) day in Nakuru.
Isaac who was joined by more than 15 youths in Nakuru for the 47 Km said the walk is meant to appreciate Kenyans serving in the military and was also dedicated to the soldiers who lost their lives in line of work.
Isaac said the country needed to show appreciation for the men and women in uniform serving the country.
“As civilians, we saw it fit to start an initiative to show our love and appreciation to the men and women in uniform for the good work they are doing,” he said.
The walk started at Njoro Posta at 9:00 am through Elburgon, Turi, Molo and ended in Sirikwa Ward.
The KDF day is celebrated every year since 2012 to appreciate the men and women in uniform and pay respects to the fallen soldiers.
In 2021 Isaac led a similar group in a walk from Kitale flyover to 9 Kenya Rifles (9KR) Moi Barracks in Soy, Uasin Gishu County.
Isaac had applied several times for the KDF recruitment but was never successful.
In a past interview, Isaac said instead of being bitter about missing opportunities to join the military he had resolved to use his skills to advocate for good working relationships between security forces and civilians.
President William Ruto on Friday October 14 presided over the 11th KDF Day at the Laikipia Air Base.
