Central Organization of Trade Unions (COTU) Secretary General Francis Atwoli has revealed details of his meeting with President William Ruto.
Atwoli said he met the head of state to discuss pertinent issues and national matters that concern Kenyans.
While speaking on Saturday, December 3, the COTU boss noted that president Ruto wants the opposition to continue wielding pressure on the government, especially on important issues affecting Kenyans.
“President Ruto agrees the Opposition must be strong and continue to do what it is supposed to do,” Atwoli said.
Furthermore, Atwoli said they discussed precarious employment that was denying the government a chance to collect taxes.
“Government is not getting tax from outsourced labor. The employees are neither paying NSSF nor NHIF. Those are discussions we held with the President,” he said.
Likewise, the COTU Secretary General insisted that he will work with the government of the day for the benefit of Kenyans.

Nonetheless, Atwoli and Dr. Ruto met on Thursday, December 1, a few days after the COTU boss gave signals of working with the Kenya Kwanza government.
Atwoli was in Raila Odinga’s Azimio la Umoja camp in the run-up to the August 9 general election.
Moreover, he fiercely campaigned against Ruto’s presidency, at one point going on record stating that Ruto will never succeed former President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Nevertheless, Atwoli was part of a delegation from the Luhya community that met the president at the State House on Thursday.
The COTU SG was flanked by Prime cabinet secretary Musalia Mudavadi, Kakamega Senator Bonny Khalwale, former Kakamega gubernatorial candidate Cleophas Malala and Rashid Echesa, among others.
