Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has announced that the Postponed by-elections will be held Monday, August 29.
The polls were postponed in eight elective areas, including the Mombasa and Kakamega governor races.
The electoral commission arrived at this date after an internal meeting and the various candidates have agreed with the proposed date.
The elections that were rescheduled include Mombasa and Kakamega governor elections as well as MP races in Kitui Rural Constituency (Kitui County), Kacheliba Constituency (West Pokot County), Pokot South Constituency (West Pokot County) and Rongai Constituency (Nakuru County).
Moreover, the IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati convened a meeting with candidates affected by the postponed elections.
The meeting was scheduled for August 22 to discuss possible dates of conducting the elections.
Likewise, this meeting will be the first time Chebukati is meeting aspirants who were aggrieved by suspension of elections occasioned by a photo mix-up in the printed ballot papers.

Some of the contenders like Mombasa ODM’s gubernatorial candidate Abdulswamad Nassir were not happy with the postponement. He even threatened to move to court to challenge the electoral commission over the postponement of the county polls.
Nonetheless, in the meeting, Mr Chebukati will publicly meet the four IEBC commissioners that disowned the presidential election results in a surprise press conference at Serena Hotel, Nairobi.
The four commissioners, including vice chair Juliana Cherera, commissioners Francis Wanderi, Irene Masit and Justus Nyang’aya, alleged that the results were arrived at in an opaque manner.
