Kenya Railways has put its operations on hold due to the looming anti-government demonstrations organized by opposition leader Raila Odinga.
Moreover, the management of Kenya Railways said they made the decision due to what they termed as “unavoidable circumstances.”
Nevertheless, Kenya Railways said all Madaraka Express link trains between the Nairobi Central Station and the Nairobi Terminus will still run as scheduled.
“We do sincerely apologize to all our esteemed customers for any inconvenience caused,” the train operator said in a statement Sunday, March 26.
The decision by the Railway management comes a few hours before Azimio la Umoja One Kenya supporters move to the streets to protest over several issues, such as high cost of living and electoral reforms.

Despite the government saying these demonstrations are illegal, the Azimio boss has insisted that the picketing will continue as planned by his team.
According to Mr. Odinga, the constitution allows Kenyans to hold peaceful protests, as such they do not require any permission from police to stage the demonstrations.
Raila Odinga’s officially declared that his supporters will take to the streets every Monday and Thursday to protest the high cost of living, electoral reforms, and victory he claims was stolen from him in the August 2022 poll that saw William Ruto declared president.
