Out of a sample size of 2,967 tested over the last 24 hours, Kenya recorded 36 COVID-19 cases, marking a positivity rate of 1.2 percent.
Out of the positive cases, 19 are foreigners while the remaining 17 are Kenyans. Moreover, 21 out of the 36 are males while 15 are females. The youngest positive patient is a five-year-old whereas the oldest is 72 years old.
According to the Ministry of Health, Kenya has so far recorded a total of 324,011 confirmed positive cases and the cumulative tests conducted as of now is 3,630,986.
In a statement, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe, mentioned that 10 patients had recovered from the disease. All of them from the Home-Based and Isolation Care program; hence, pushing total recoveries to 318,130.
Meanwhile, no death was recorded, thus maintaining the cumulative fatalities at 5,649.
Nonetheless, there are six patients who are currently admitted to various health facilities countrywide, whereas 226 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program.
“No patient is in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), two patients are on supplemental oxygen in the general ward. No patient is in the High Dependency Unit (HDU),” Kagwe reported.
During the vaccination campaign, CS Kagwe said the government is working towards the vaccination of a targeted population of 27, 246, 033.
