Officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested the key suspect in the murder of Lilian Waithera, the NHIF employee who was shot dead in Nairobi’s CBD.
According to Citizen TV Digital, the suspect who is a businessman and licensed firearm holder was apprehended on Monday, February 20 at his home in Kenol, Muranga county and taken to DCI headquarters.
The 38-year-old man when questioned denied firing the fatal bullet that took away Waithera’s life on February 13.

He further told detectives that on the fateful day he was armed and, in the CBD, but he did not shoot Waithera.
Police have since confiscated his weapon and a ballistic examination is being carried out to find out if it was the one used to commit the murder.
Police reports indicate that the deceased NHIF staffer was shot from an elevated angle. The bullet, according to security personnel, entered her body at the collarbone and stopped in the lungs.
Waithera’s family say she appeared normal before her fatal shooting further stating she did not speak of any threat against her life.
