The police have launched a manhunt for cattle bandits that left 11 people dead on Saturday 24 September in Turkana East.
Among the casualties were 8 police officers who were after the bandits.
The other three casualties included a local chief and two civilians.
The Police spokesperson in his statement on Monday September 26 confirmed deployment of more officers to the area to apprehend the crooks.
The police spokesperson Mr. Bruno Shioso further assured citizens that they won’t rest until the bandits are caught and brought to law.
“A multi-agency security operation has today been launched in the area to arrest the perpetrators, recover the stolen animals and firearms, and return normalcy to the area,”
“Such acts of criminality and impunity shall not be tolerated and must be brought to an end at all costs. As such, bandits terrorizing innocent people have been put on notice,” said Mr. Shioso.

President Ruto had on Sunday received the news about the same and had issued the police with the directive for the manhunt.
“After receiving a comprehensive report on the Turkana/Pokot incident that led to 10 security/administration officers losing their lives, I have instructed security agencies to deal firmly, decisively and conclusively with those involved. Cattle rustling will stop na sio tafadhali,” Ruto stated.
The former presidential aspirant Ekuru Aukot who lost a sister during the attack requested President Ruto’s administration to act, noting that her sister left behind two children.
“Dear President William Ruto and Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, I just lost my sister Mary Kanyaman, a mother of little kids, to Pokot bandits in Napeitom.
“We have also lost the area chief and eight other police officers. We will bury them, but fix the insecurity issue in Turkana East,” he stated.
The manhunt is on, and the bandits are yet to be apprehended.
