Members of Parliament have approved all the 24 cabinet secretaries nominated by President William Ruto on September 27, 2022.
The National Assembly also approved Peninah Malonza, who had earlier on been rejected by the Committee on Appointments.
Malonza who was nominated to the Ministry of Tourism, was in limbo, following her rejection by the house committee in a report on Tuesday, October 25.
The house Committee on Appointments was also divided over the Cabinet Secretary nominations of Aisha Jumwa (Public Service), and Mithika Linturi (Agriculture).
Furthermore, the vetting committee unanimously rejected the nomination of Malonza as Tourism CS, citing lack of requisite experience and abilities to serve in the docket.
Likewise, Linturi’s nomination was also rejected over his failure to present his academic degree and pending court cases.
Similarly, the committee on appointments rejected Jumwa’s nomination due to a pending court case in which she is accused of fatally shooting a man in 2019 during the Ganda Ward by-election.
The Committee noted that Jumwa’s claims that she does not own a gun, or a firearm license was not satisfactory to prove her innocence and earn her a ministerial docket.
Nonetheless, the National Assembly has approved all the nominees, thus paving way for the Cabinet Members to be sworn to office as per the constitution.

The Cabinet Secretary nominees will assume office by swearing or affirming faithfulness to the people and the Republic of Kenya before the President.
The National Assembly’s Committee on Appointments comprise the following members: Moses Wetang’ula, Gladys Boss, Kimani Ichung’wah, Opiyo Wandayi, Owen Baya, Robert Mbui, Junet Mohamed, Abdul Rahim Dawood, David Gikaria, David Pkosing, Dido Ali Raso, Ferdinand Wanyonyi, Mishi Mboko, Stephen Mule, Naisula Lesuuda, Mary Emaase, Abdi Shurie, Caleb Amisi, George Gitonga Murugara, Nelson Koech and Rahab Wachira Mukami.
