Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance coalition leader Raila Odinga on Wednesday, February 22 issued President William Ruto with demands during an interdenominational prayer rally at Nairobi’s Central Business District (CBD).
Raila said he will lead the country in a nationwide mass protest after 14-days if the President fails to heed the demands.
Flanked by his deputy in the coalition, NARC Kenya party leader Martha Karua and their Wiper party counterpart Kalonzo Musyoka, Raila pointed out that Kenyans are overtaxed and sleeping hungry stating that the subsidies on food should brought back.

“Withdrawal of subsidies to food and education in the middle of drought and famine was reckless and heartless. Consequently, the subsidies must be restored, the cost of basic commodities and taxes must come down in the next 14 days,” Raila said.
“You trample on those living in poverty, stealing their grain through taxes and unfair rent. Therefore, though you build beautiful stone houses, you will never live in them. Though you plant lush vineyards, you will never drink wine from them,” Raila said, quoting the holy scriptures.
The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader further said that the reconstitution of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) should stop, insisting that a bipartisan task force should instead be put together to oversee the process.
Raila also asked Ruto to desist from attacking Former President Uhuru Kenyatta and Cabinet Secretaries who served in the past government.
“You see how they keep punishing Uhuru’s former Cabinet. Recently, we saw what happened to Matiang’i. Now they want to inflict harm on Danstan Omari as the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) wrote to him to investigate him. We want to tell them to leave Matiang’i and Omari alone,” Raila said.
