Mumias East MP Peter Salasya has slammed Garissa Town MP Aden Duale for criticizing his inaugural speech in Parliament.
On Wednesday, October 5, Duale took issue with Salasya’s limited oratory skills and implied it was so bad it needed God’s intervention.
In a rejoinder on Thursday, October 6, Salasya responded in kind and told the legislator that he is not fit to run the Defence docket which he has been nominated to.
“You are not qualified to be the CS for Defence and I’m telling you for free, I will be number one to ask you questions in Parliament,” he stated.
Moreover, Salasya noted that he was raising serious issues in Parliament and as such, senior MPs like Duale should do the same.
The first-time legislator repeatedly addressed Deputy Speaker Gladys Shollei as “madam speaker sir” despite being corrected by his colleagues.
According to Duale, such mistakes should not be allowed in Parliament, adding that it was a serious issue and God’s intervention was needed.
“This is serious, can’t be the August House. Mungu saidia (God help),” Duale stated.
Furthermore, Salasya also asked Parliament for intervention for electricity to be supplied in his constituency.
The youthful MP complained as well that the first time MPs were not being given a chance to contribute to motions and to air their views during proceedings.

In his reaction to Duale’s criticism of his oratory skills, the Mumias East MP said the cabinet nominee was going to add to the problems facing the country.
Salasya mentioned Duale’s call for KDF to be withdrawn from Somalia, saying the senior legislator wants Kenyans to continue dying in Boni and kidnapped in Somalia.
Salasya further added that Duale will be a disappointment to President William Ruto’s administration.
