Police in Lamu County have placed in custody a man suspected to be part of the Al-Shabab terror group.
The man was arrested on Monday, July 18 by General Service Unit (GSU) officers attached to the Milimani area.
In a statement to members of the public, the National Police Service (NPS) suspect the man of being part of the terror gang that recently attacked one of its camps near Boni Forest.
“He had a visible suspected-gun-inflicted wound on the left leg above the ankle allegedly sustained in the previous foiled attack,” NPS said.
The law enforcement officers recovered: one RPG launcher, one RPG heat warhead, one booster, and two booster housing from the cache of weapons.
The man was nabbed after NPS officers launched a sting operation aimed at flushing out the terrorists who are suspected to be hiding in Boni forest.
Police say the man will remain in custody until his accomplices are brought to book.
