President William Samoei Ruto attended a Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) event at the Laikipia airbase on Friday October 14.
The Kenya Defense soldiers were celebrating the 11th anniversary of Kenyan fallen soldiers, heroes to the nation, who lost their lives in the lines of duty.
The celebrations were launched in October 2012 after the country launched the linda Nchi operation in 2011 same month.
The KDF ahead of the event, conducted free medical checkups for the soldiers at Likii Health Centre in Nanyuki.
Medical services offered include General Outpatients services, Beyond Zero Cervical Cancer Screening, Dental treatment, Eye treatment, Child welfare & nutrition, Comprehensive Care Clinic (CCC) services and Health promotion talks.
This is the first military event Ruto is presiding over since he was sworn into office on September 13, 2022.
Retired President Uhuru Kenyatta laid a wreath at the Heroes and Heroines Monument, followed by an inspection of a Guard of Honour mounted by the 7th Battalion Kenya Rifles during last year’s event held at the Kahawa Garrison.
Kenyans have taken it on different social media platforms to write appreciative messages to our Defense forces soldiers.
