Azimio la Umoja One Kenya presidential aspirant Raila Odinga on Monday, June 6 unveiled his 10-point manifesto detailing his plan for the first 100 days in office if he wins the top country seat come August 9.
Mr. Odinga unveiled his teams manifesto in a colorful event at Nyayo Stadium together with his running mate, Martha Karua and hundreds of his supporters and political allies.
The following are Raila’s plans for Kenya if elected the 5th president.
- Azimio la Ugatuzi – This manifesto will involve increasing devolved resources and advancing a “One County, One Product” programme. According to Raila, this programme is focused on manufacturing as the driving force for creation of wealth and employment to achieve double digit economic growth rate. Thus, the government will provide material and technical support to every county government for vibrant industrialization.
- Kazi Kwa Wote – Azimio says it will have Manufacturing as the driver of economic revolution envisaged to spur growth of all sectors of the economy resulting in employment and wealth creation. Similarly, the Azimio government plans to support the growth of MSMEs, including the JuaKali sector to spearhead the ‘Made in Kenya’ products.’
- Azimio la Ukulima – ‘Fukuza Njaa’ – Under the Fukuza Njaa agenda, Azimio government promises to create an enabling environment for climate-smart agriculture, agro-processing, improved livestock farming and growth of the blue economy. The aim here is to feed the people and generate agricultural bounty that Kenya has the potential to produce.
- Inua Jamii, Pesa kwa jamii’ – This is a social protection programme where Ksh. 6,000 will be given to 2million needy households across the country. Raila said the money is not a handout but an investment and a foundation for a new transformational value chain that will also trigger massive economic activity and create thousands of localized small-scale businesses and enterprises across the country.
- Azimio la Kina Mama – The programme is set to unlock access to financing for women-led businesses and provide support for women on other enabling factors such as access to assets for production, land tenure and proportional representation at all levels of government.
- Azimio la Wananchi ‘Hashtag Inawezekana -The Inawezekana programme aims at equipping the youth with the mindset, skills, funds and technology to enable them to innovate and even surpass their global counterparts. This is because, according to the AZIMIO government the youth are the engine of the country’s long term growth and development.
- Baba Care – BabaCare seeks to address health matters in the country and will ensure access to quality healthcare services by all Kenyans as per need and, provided by motivated health professionals. In addition, under babacare, medical Insurance will be provided for retired public servants.
- Waste not a Single Child – Raila said this programme will be an aggressive scheme to ensure that all, and not some children, get rightful access to quality education. Azimio government also plans to hire motivated teachers to deliver quality education.
- Maji Kwa Kila Boma – The commitment is to make clean and safe water available to all Kenyans and especially the poor by radically reversing the shortage and high cost of water.
- Administrative Continuity – The Azimio government plans to reinvigorate and ensure the actualization of Vision 2030 by improving on gains made by the current government.
