Azimio leader Raila Odinga sympathized with residents and business-people in Kibra who had lost their property following Monday’s protest, promising to provide materials to reconstruct the burnt areas.
“To those business-people in Kibra, I am very sorry for the losses you incurred. We will stand with you. We said we will give you materials to reconstruct the burnt areas,” Raila said.
Raila further stated that the goons involved in the looting and robbery were not Kibra residents, urging his supporters to ensure the protests remain peaceful.
He said Kibra is a place inhabited by Kenyans from all tribes who faithfully voted for him for the 20 years he was an MP of the area.
“Kibra is the face of Kenya. There is no tribe that cannot be found in Kibra,” he said.
During Monday’s protests, a Church, a Mosque and several businesses were destroyed after a fire break out started by violent protesters.

The Azimio leader also stated that, come retirement, he would set up his home in Kibra.
Raila was speaking on Wednesday in Kibra where he met representatives of the Nubian community and the Church.
“I will retire in Kibra. On the day I retire, I will come to you to give me a plot in Kibra. I will set up a house there,” Raila said.
“You remember when there was the Mau saga, I said I was ready to go sell mandazis in Kibra. But the stones be kept away,” he said.
