ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna has commented on the scuffle between him and blogger Robert Alai during Azimio One Kenya alliance rally on Saturday, July 16.
While speaking on Capital FM, Edwin Sifuna, who is vying for the Nairobi Senatorial seat on an ODM ticket said that the fracas was not as bad as people made it.
Sifuna and Alai, who were on top of a car, got involved in a physical scuffle that was captured on camera when Azimio presidential running mate Martha Karua was addressing the crowd.
According to Sifuna, he was only preventing Kileleshwa MCA aspirant Robert Alai, from climbing on top of his car.
“It was just a safety issue, that was my vehicle, and as you know cars have a carrying capacity….he is not a light guy,” Sifuna stated.
Moreover, the Nairobi Senatorial aspirant added that his car was damaged at the campaign trail that day.
“If I show you my windshield now, it is shattered, I have a 1999 Mitsubishi Pajero that I use for the campaigns, and I took it to the shop to have a roof rack installed. So if you are going to come on my car, please come to the top.” He added.
Furthermore, Sifuna claimed he tried talking to Alai but the MCA aspirant was adamant, forcing him to take action.
“I was trying to tell him to get off because we were just too many people on the vehicle but he did not want to listen, so I had to ease him off,” he said.
Nonetheless, earlier reports indicated that the fracas was as a result of Robert Alai being denied a chance to address the crowd in the Azimio rally.
