President Uhuru Kenyatta has appointed a power hand over Transition Committee.
The committee will be tasked to oversee the handover of power to the next President.
Those appointed to serve in the committee include head of civil service Joseph Kinyua, Interior CS Dr Fred Matiangi, Interior PS Karanja Kibicho, and Inspector General of police Hillary Mutyambai
Other are Chief of Defense forces Gen. Robert Kibochi, National Intelligence Service (NIS) director Philip Kameru, Judiciary Register Anne Amadi, and State House comptroller Kinuthia Mbugua.
AG Kihara Kariuki, ICT PS Jerome Ochieng, PS Julius Muia, Foreign Affairs PS Macharia Kamau, PS Julius Korir, PS Joe Okudo and Solicitor General Ken Ogeto will also serve in the committee.
The Assumption of the Office of the President committee is established under Act No.21 of 2012.
The Act provides for the procedure and ceremony for the assumption of office of the President.
The Committee is mandated under section six to facilitate the handing over process by the outgoing President to the President elect.
The committee will also be in charge of the provision of the security detail and security briefings to the President-Elect among other key functions.
