Former Kiambu governor Ferdinand Waititu on Monday June 5 failed to show up for his Ksh588 million corruption case, as the court was informed that he collapsed at his home on Sunday.
Lawyer John Swaka told trial Magistrate Alex Kombo that Waititu could not appear for trial because he was admitted to a city hospital.
“We are not ready to proceed… I was informed that he collapsed yesterday and was rushed to Aga Khan where he is admitted,” Swaka said.
Swaka further said Waititu’s wife Susan Wangari could not make it to court because she is with him in the hospital.
“Therefore, we will not be able to proceed with the hearing today,” he said.

The magistrate said he had not been furnished with any medical records.
The case was adjourned to tomorrow, to allow the legal team to get the required medical documents.
The High Court had previously frozen 18 prime properties and 7 motor vehicles belonging to Waititu pending the hearing and determination of a case filed by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).
Waititu is accused of acquiring assets worth Ksh.1.94 billion between 2015 and 2020 in his capacity as governor and former legislator and further of public funds misappropriation by issuing tenders to outsourced firms to offer services and goods to the Kiambu County.
