The friends, family and colleagues of the late journalist and TV star Catherine Kasavuli converged at The Friends International Centre Church along Ngong Road for her memorial service where they reminisced the great moments, they shared with her.
During the memorial service which took place on Thursday, January 12, the journalist’s son Martin Kasavuli described her as a dotting mom and his best friend from the day she gave birth to him.
“You knew her as Catherine, but I knew her as a mum, and 40 plus years she became my best friend. We formed a special bond since the day I was born,” Martin said.
In his mother’s eulogy, Martin says he used to respond and talk to his Catherine whenever he heard her voice on radio and TV, humorously questioning why she was not responding.

A single mother, Catherine often took Martin to work where he was looked after by his many aunts and uncles at VOK/KBC almost ruining a couple of bulletins by trying to talk to his mum during live studio recording.
Catherine embraced single motherhood as an opportunity to lead Martin into becoming an independent gentleman and ensured that he lacked nothing. Indeed, Catherine and Martin’s Mother and Son bond was built on love ever so amazing.
The memorial service was attended by family, friends, colleagues in the media industry as well as Roots Party leader George Wajackoyah and Narc Party leader Martha Karua.
The congregants were later joined by Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba who delivered condolence messages from President William Ruto
