Five people have been killed by Iranian security forces during protests that were sparked by the death of Mahsa Amini.
Five people were fatally shot while 75 others were injured over the weekend.
Amini died on Friday September 16 where she suffered a heart attack following her arrest by the Iranian morality police in Tehran.
The Iranian police for several months have been patrolling and enforcing strict rules on the Islamic social code, including the dressing.
The UN Human Rights Office (OHCHR) said in its Tuesday statement that the morality police have expanded street patrols in recent months and have been subjecting women perceived to be wearing “loose hijab” to verbal and physical harassment and arrest.
“(OHCHR) has received numerous, and verified, videos of violent treatment of women, including slapping women across the face, beating them with batons and throwing them into police vans,” it said.

Tehran Governor Mohsen Mansouri however on twitter accused the protesters of attacking the police.
Security forces fired tear gas on protesters in Amini’s hometown of Saqqez, in Iran’s Kurdistan province, after her funeral ceremony.
The protesters demanded explanation on why Amini died of a heart attack without pre-existing health conditions, claiming the police ill-treated and mistreated her while in custody.
The Iranian officials have notified the public of an autopsy examination on Amini’s cause of death which is set to be made public as soon as the report is out.
