Liz Truss, a former foreign secretary, is poised to become Britain’s next and third female prime minister after trouncing Rishi Sunak, a former chancellor and finance minister, in a closely contested Conservative vote.
Liz, 47 years old, garnered 57.4 per cent of the vote (81, 326 votes) against Rishi’s 42.6 per cent (60 399). She will become Britain’s fourth prime minister in six years, replacing Boris Johnson who resigned in July following rebellion from his own cabinet.

Liz will be inheriting a broken economy struggling with recession and high cost of living. “I know that our beliefs resonate with the British people; our beliefs in freedom, in the ability to control your life, in low taxes, in personal responsibility. I know that is why people voted for us in such numbers in 2019 and as your party leader I intend to deliver what we promised those voters right across our great country, “she said.
