Murang’a Woman Representative Sabina Chege has advised Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka to stay in Azimio La Umoja-One Kenya Coalition and rescue his political career.
The Murang’a Women Representative leader Chege mentioned that Kalonzo and the alliance both stand a chance to lose if he exits.
On Monday, May 16, Kalonzo announced Andrew ole Sunkuli as his running mate after Azimio’s flag bearer Raila Odinga selected Martha Karua as his running mate.
In response to this, Chege stated that it is wrong for a leader of Kalonzo’s caliber to keep flip flopping instead of making a firm decision to stay in the Azimio alliance.
“It is wrong for a leader to say one thing today and say another tomorrow. Kalonzo should know that we treasure him and want him back in Azimio.” “We all went before the panel but the position could only go to one person. I know he may be disappointed but I’d personally want him to come back,” Chege, who was among the 10 candidates shortlisted for the position, said while speaking on Monday 16.
Sabina Chege further mentioned that, even though Charity Ngilu and Kivutha Kibwana represent the Eastern region, Kalonzo still enjoys considerable support from the area hence, should work with them for Azimio to win.
In addition, Chege said Karua’s nomination will significantly boost the chances of women being elected into leadership.
“Women vying for governor and senator seats now have a better chance of winning,” “Raila has been heavily involved in the fight for women leadership and has shown us where his heart is. For the first time, we have a woman deputizing a presidential candidate.” She said.
Chege, who is a member of Azimio council, dropped her aspirations to vie for Murang’a gubernatorial seat to focus on national politics.
