ARSENAL – offer Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang contract extension’ as Gunners look to finally secure star striker’s future and end transfer saga by warding off interest from PSG. Arsenal is awaiting word from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after sending the striker an offer of a new contract, according to a report.
Aubameyang, who moved to Arsenal in January 2018, has become arguably the Gunners’ best player since his arrival after scoring 61 goals in 97 appearances.
However, he only has one year left on his contract at The Emirates and speculation over his future – alongside reported interest from Barcelona, Real Madrid and Manchester United – has been rife.
The risk of losing the Gabon international for free next June has been a concern for many Arsenal pundits and boss Mikel Arteta said in March that he intended to sit down with the striker and discuss his future. According to L’Equipe (via Get French Football News), Arsenal has taken a step forward in negotiations, offering Aubameyang a new deal.
The details of the offer are unclear but, at the age of 30, it is unclear what sort of deal the Gunners would be prepared to make with the forward.
As well as United, Real Madrid and Barcelona, French champions Paris Saint-Germain have also been heavily linked, with Edinson Cavani set to leave Paris when his contract expires in the coming months.
The next 12 months are set to be crucial for the Gunners because, as well as Aubameyang, the contracts of Mesut Ozil, Shkodran Mustafi, Sokratis Papastathopoulos, and Bukayo Saka are all set to run out.
It was also thought that defender David Luiz’s deal was to end next summer but it has emerged that he could be a free agent within months due to the deal only being agreed for one season.
