World marathon record holder Eliud Kipchoge is among 10 nominees for the 2022 Athlete of the Year Award.
Eliud Kipchoge won the Berlin Marathon last month, lowering his own world record to 2:01:09.
Kipchoge also won the Tokyo Marathon in March 2022.
The Marathon champion won the crown in 2018 and 2019.
Also nominated for the award include world 5000m champion Jakob Ingebrigsten (Norway), world 200m champion Noah Lyles (USA), world pole vault champion Mondo Duplantis (Sweden), world 3000m champion Soufiane El Bakkali of Morocco, world discus champion Kristjan Ceh of Slovenia, world 400m hurdles champion Alison dos Santos of Brazil, world 110m hurdles champion Grant Holloway of USA, world javelin champion Anderson Peters of Grenada and world triple jump champion Pedro Pichardo.
The World Athletics Council and the World Athletics Family will cast their votes by email, while fans are supposed to vote online for their favorite athlete, via the World Athletics social media platforms.
The voting process involves a like on an athlete’s graphic photo on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube and a retweet on Twitter.
The World Athletics Council’s vote will count for 50% of the result, while the World Athletics Family’s votes and the public votes will each count for 25% of the result.
Voting for the World Athletes of the Year closes at midnight on Monday 31 October.
At the conclusion of the voting process, World Athletics will announce five women and five men finalists.
The winners will be revealed on World Athletics’ social media platforms in early December.
