Commonwealth super lightweight champion Sarah “Angel of War” Achieng’ is the LG/SJAK Sports Personality of the Month of December 2022.
Achieng bagged the accolade after successfully defending her Commonwealth Super lightweight title against Zimbabwean challenger Chiedza Homakoma.
In winning the monthly award, Achieng took home an LG smart television worth Ksh 100,000 courtesy of LG East Africa.
Achieng’ got the prestigious monthly award after retaining her title in Nairobi by beating Zimbabwean Chiedza “Queen Tiger” Homakoma in December last year.
“It’s great motivation to get the Sports Personality of the Month award. It came as a surprise to me. It will inspire me and other boxers, especially those upcoming to work hard in order to post good results and be recognized,” said Achieng’ after receiving the award which came with a 50-inch NanoCell LG television and a personalized plaque.

Achieng is a product of the revered Boxgirls Kenya, which is a community-based Organisation set up to build the work started by Coach Analo Anjere (popularly known as Priest).
Boxgirls has produced some of Kenya’s most prolific lady boxers including trail-blazing Kenya amateur team star Elizabeth Andiego, who became the first Kenyan lady to play at the Olympic Games in London 2012.
Achieng’, who trains under coach Alfred “Priest” Analo in Kariobangi North, bettered her record to 15 wins and two losses after beating Homakoma.
