Jesus, playing his first league match since recovering from a knee injury last month, scored a penalty in the 35th minute after being fouled in the penalty area by Luke Ayling.
Arsenal’s lead was extended when Ben White scored off a pass from Gabriel Martinelli, followed by Jesus finding the back of the net once more in the 55th minute, thanks to Leandro Trossard’s assistance. The Brazilian forward joined Arsenal from Manchester City last summer.

Although Leeds managed to challenge Arsenal during the initial phase, the home team cruised to victory after Jesus’ first goal, preserving their eight-point lead over reigning champions Man City.
Leeds managed to stir some unease among the home supporters with Rasmus Kristensen’s deflected shot in the 76th minute, but Granit Xhaka’s header ensured Arsenal gained another three points in their pursuit of their first championship since 2004.
Man City had previously increased the pressure on Mikel Arteta’s team by trouncing Liverpool 4-1.
Arsenal’s continuous seven-game winning streak in the league propelled them to 72 points from 29 matches, while City, who still have a home game against the London side, lag behind with 64 points having played one match fewer.
