Amos Kipruto has reclaimed the London Marathon for Kenya.
Kipruto previously won the bronze medal in the world marathon and silver medal at Tokyo earlier this year.
Eliud Kipchoge won the London marathon in 2019.
Ethiopian Leul Gebreselasie was second in 2:05:12 followed by Belgian Abdi Bashir in 2:05:19 as Kenenisa Bekele settled fifth in 2:05:53.
Birhanu Legese also from Ethiopia was sixth in 2:06:11 followed by compatriot and defending champion Sisay Lemma in 2:07:26.
Mo Farah, the four-time Olympic champion, earlier pulled out of the London marathon disclosing his hip is yet to heal, from an injury obtained earlier in the month.
He went on to all the best to fellow athletes, promising to take part come 2023.
‘It’s really disappointing to have to withdraw after a good last few months and after my win at the Big Half (earlier in September) but also because I love racing in front of my home crowd in London who always give all of us athletes such amazing support.
Kenyan marathon champion Kipchoge advised Mo Farah to ignore any thoughts of retirement after failing to participate in the Sunday marathon.
“I want to wish him a quick recovery from his injury. Injuries are part of the challenges of elite sport. My advice is to recover from your injury and come back. Mo Farah has a lot more to give. I think he will come back stronger. The training is there and after the injury he can come back and show the world what is in him.” Kipchoge said.
