Despite creating numerous chances throughout the game, Newcastle were unable to convert them, with United’s goalkeeper David De Gea making several saves. However, Willock finally broke the deadlock on 64 minutes when he scored an unmarked goal from an Allan Saint-Maximin cutback.

Wilson, who came on as a substitute on the 80th minute, sealed the victory with a well-placed header from a Kieran Trippier free kick.
In contrast, Manchester United failed to pose any serious threat to Newcastle’s goal and only managed their first shot on target in the 56th minute, which was a relatively easy save for the Newcastle keeper.
With this win, Newcastle moved up to third place in the Premier League, one spot ahead of Manchester United, with both teams on 50 points and a game in hand over fifth-placed Tottenham.
This victory was a form of redemption for Newcastle, who lost to Manchester United 2-0 in the League Cup final in February.
