Kenyan midfielder and CF Montréal player Victor Wanyama is back at Harambee Stars.
This was announced by Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, Sports and the Arts Ababu Namwamba through his Twitter stating:
“I’m delighted Victor Wanyama has agreed to return fully to Harambee Stars, rescinding his earlier decision to exit the team. In our mission to rebuild our football and raise the bar for our national teams, our elite players must be right at the heart of this renaissance.” The tweet read.
Wanyama became the Harambee stars captain in 2014, after Dennis Oliech retired.
The former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder announced his retirement from international football in September 2021, after 15 years of service for the Kenyan national team.
Wanyama left Kenya’s senior team after making 71 appearances and scoring seven goals.
His last Kenyan goal came in the 3-0 victory over Ethiopia, which assisted Kenya to qualify for the 2019 Total Energies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
