Russia has claimed that Ukraine attempted to assassinate one of its top government officials, whose identity has not yet been disclosed to the public.
Government officials said the thwarted assassination involved an explosive device planted at the grave of the official’s relative in a Moscow cemetery, rigged to detonate remotely.
The Federal Security Service (FSB), responsible for national security in the Russian Federation, alleged that Ukraine, under Western guidance, is planning similar terrorist attacks across Russia.
“The Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation has thwarted a terrorist attack planned by Ukrainian security services against a senior Russian official while he was visiting the burial site of his close relatives at Troyekurovskoye Cemetery,” the FSB stated.
Russia Foils Assassination Attempt Directed Towards Its Official
According to the FSB statement, Ukrainian intelligence agencies recruited an illegal migrant from a Central Asian country, two Russian citizens struggling with drug addiction, and a Kiev resident wanted in Moscow for murder and arms trafficking to carry out the attack.
While conducting the operation, authorities found communication devices that showed messages between the detainees and a Ukrainian special services agent. This confirmed the plan to carry out an assassination.

They also discovered a remote-controlled video camera hidden in a flower vase, which was meant to help with the terrorist act.
The FSB has warned that any secret cooperation with foreign states or international organizations is prohibited under Russian law, with violators facing criminal charges that could result in life imprisonment.
War Between Zelenskyy and Putin Intensifies
This alleged assassination plot comes at a time when the war between Russia and Ukraine continues to intensify.
On the night of Thursday, November 13, 2025, Russia launched a massive attack on Kyiv, resulting in one death and at least 24 injuries, according to Ukraine’s state of emergency report.
More than 40 people were rescued during the overnight assault, which continued into Friday morning.

The attack also caused fires and damage to residential buildings across ten districts of the Ukrainian capital.
Meanwhile, Ukraine utilized its Flamingo cruise missiles alongside domestically produced drones to strike “several dozen objects” in Russian-occupied territories and inside Russia itself on Thursday, November 13, 2025, according to the Ukrainian military general staff.
The military reportedly hit a marine oil terminal in occupied Crimea, a helicopter parking lot, a UAV storage area, training facilities at the Kirovsk airfield, and an air defense radar station in the Yevpatoria area.
