A stray leopard on Wednesday, August 31 night attacked a home in Mabomani village near the Tsavo East National park, and killed 32 goats.
This is one of the many cases of leopard attacks on livestock in Voi, Tana River County that have been reported.
Moreover, the leopard is said to have escaped from the park and made its way to Mabomani village.
The home owner identified as Halik Aziz, said it is not the first time the village has been attacked by the leopards from Tsavo East National park.
In addition, Halik reported that they have been living in constant fears of the continued wild cat attacks on humans and livestock.
“This is not the first time this has happened to our village, we have continued to incur these losses we want KWS to take responsibility,” he stated.
Moreover, angry residents have been pointing fingers at Kenya Wildlife Services (KWS) for the slow process of compensation. Some of them say they have not been paid for their previous loses.
Nevertheless, KWS officers have been contacted and are investigating the incident, with other officers deployed to search for the stray leopard.
