As dust settles on the debate to have the presidential term limits extended from current five years to seven, Dadaab Member of Parliament Farah Maalim has hinted at the possibility of President William Ruto holding the position of Prime Minister in 2032.
Speaking during the launch of the Cheboror Last Mile Connectivity project in Kesses, Uasin Gishu, on Friday, January 10, Farah stated that Ruto will continue to rule for the remainder of his term.
“Some people are saying Ruto must go. Why, has he refused the seat of your mother or father? We will elect him, and we will bring him back with 99 percent of the votes from the Northeastern province,” Farah said.
“Ruto will remain in office until 2032, and when his term ends, I will amend the constitution, implement the parliamentary system, and bring him back as Prime Minister.”
Farah Maalim Hints at Proposal to Have Ruto as Prime Minister
His remarks came hours after he noted that Kenyans would have advocated for the Head of State to win a Nobel Peace Prize for the two years he has been in office and the transformation he has achieved.
“If Kenyans were nationalists and patriots, we would have already gone globally to seek a Nobel Peace Prize for this man for the kind of transformation he has brought in the last two years, which has not been done anywhere,” Farah said during an earlier address.
“In just two years, we were on the verge of defaulting on our loans. If we had defaulted, the shilling today would be trading at Ksh 300 to the dollar. But now, it has come down, Your Excellency, thank you so much. We are with you, in good times and bad, and we will bring you back.”

The vocal lawmaker further urged National Assembly majority leader Kimani Ichung’waH to persist in his efforts to challenge and criticize those who have been critics of President Ruto.
Leaders Rally Behind Ruto’s Leadership
At the same time, Senate Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot commended Ruto’s regime for its efforts in bringing power, constructing roads, paying hospital bills, and supporting education in schools.
He went on to warn Ruto not to be swayed by fear and urged him to continue with his agenda and fulfill of his promises of lifting the lives of common mwananchi.
“President, please listen to the voice of the citizens on the ground. Those who are making noise on social media, please block your ears. Listen to the words coming from the grassroots,” Cheruiyot urged.

On his part, Kimani Ichung’wah warned social media users and a section of politicians for deceiving the nation with their politics of division
“Those people making noise on social media say that William Ruto cannot step on the ground, but did they hear where this is? We said we won’t be dictated to, yet some people on social media are claiming they will dictate to us by urging people not to register to Taifa Care,” Ichung’wah remarked.
“Those on social media are bringing politics of incitement, and they have allied themselves with foolish leaders, including tribalists.”
He added,” I want to tell you, Mr. President, you and your Deputy should focus on the work of the ordinary citizen. These people making noise, leave them to me, and I will take them on. Let them try, and I will step on them again once they are down.”
Meanwhile, nominated MP Joseph Wainaina called out critics who had claimed that Ruto’s government would be out of office by 2025.
He further criticized Mt Kenya leaders for being tribal, particularly with their support of the “Mtu wetu” (our person) syndrome.
